Venus Diamond Masters winner honored in Rome
Participants presented wide range of high quality restorations
Hanau, Germany, October, 2010 – Dr. Fredrik Wennerlund from Sweden is the winner of the international Venus Diamond Masters Competition. Dentists from seven countries had sent in their best restorations with the universal nanohybrid composite Venus Diamond by Heraeus. The winner participated in the 3rd Heraeus Dental Symposium in Rome in September.
Practitioners from France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States had sent in 26 restorations with Venus Diamond or Venus Diamond Flow. The indications ranged from anterior tooth trauma, incisal edge fractures and fissure caries over insufficient amalgam fillings to emergency treatments. “Even a trauma with pulp opening after excessive alcohol consumption with a 15-year old was among the submissions,” Antje Casimir, International Product Manager Restoratives at Heraeus, reported. “The presented cases show: Venus Diamond enables the dentist to achieve highly aesthetic solutions for a variety of indications with little effort.”
Diastema closure and tooth elongation for a good smile line
Dr. Fredrik Wennerlund, private practitioner from Ängelholm, Sweden, had impressed the jury with his highly aesthetic realization of a diastema closure and elongation of the anterior teeth with Venus Diamond. “My goal was to create a proper smile line,” Wennerlund explains. He slightly shortened the lower central incisors to improve occlusion and closed the diastema to get the golden proportion. Tooth 13 was reshaped to fit the rest of the smile. Wennerlund applied the multi-layering technique with Venus Diamond A1, clear incisal and opaque dentin shades. “I like working with Venus Diamond,” Wennerlund said. “When it’s warm it has the perfect consistency for me to work with. I can handle it fast. It’s comfortable and I get beautiful results.”
“Dr. Wennerlund created an invisible restoration: Texture, colour and translucency perfectly adapt to the surrounding tooth substance and have been optimally combined to achieve a natural appearance,” the jury of dentists and product developers explained their decision.
First prize: Trip to 3rd Heraeus Dental Symposium in Rome
Heraeus congratulated the winner at the 3rd Heraeus Dental Symposium in Rome. At the congress from 9th to 11th September, Wennerlund took the chance to meet and discuss with international experts from periodontology and restorative dentistry. He especially enjoyed the lecture of Dr. Sanjay Sethi, whose course last year had inspired Wennerlund to try out Venus Diamond. “After this symposium, I am even more eager to start solving my next cases with Venus Diamond,” Wennerlund summed up.
